Spam Spam Spam! Beautiful Spam!

Spam is the sending of unsolicited email to large number of people you don't have a preexisting relationship with. It's a bad thing to do. You're imposing on the time and bandwidth of a huge number of people, and you are unlikely to make money at it.

Believe it or not, 11.13% of the people who use support the site!
I send out hundreds of emails a day, but only to people who've created accounts on the site and given me their email addresses. That kind of thing is OK. But buying a CD full of email addresses and sending them solicitations is a sure way to get (1) a mailbox full of hate and (2) your account cancelled at your ISP.

The only people who make money on spam are the guys selling the CDs.

The term, btw, originates with a Monty Python skit about a menu in which every item contains spam.
